About the Office
Built to compound for generations
Entropy 256 is a single-family office in the Greater Tampa Area. We invest across public and private markets, in equities and in direct positions in private companies.
Our name is drawn from the mathematics that secures the world's hardest money. A bitcoin private key is protected by 256 bits of entropy, a keyspace so vast that brute force is not merely impractical but physically impossible. We take it as our emblem: small in expression, immense in consequence, and utterly resistant to compromise.
In thermodynamics, entropy is the tendency of systems toward disorder. Markets are no different. Our work is to find the assets, businesses, and technologies that create order from that disorder, and to hold them long enough for time to do the compounding.

Bitcoin at the core
Our portfolio is arranged as a honeycomb. Bitcoin sits at the center, held with the deepest conviction and the longest horizon. Around it, gold, timberland, property & casualty insurers, and a small ring of durable businesses chosen to move independently of one another. Patience
We have no outside investors and no redemptions to meet, so we can wait. Most of our decisions are about holding, not trading.

Foundation
Bitcoin is the base layer of the portfolio. Its rules have ossified while everything around it keeps changing, which is exactly what we want in a foundation.

Endurance
We favor Lindy businesses: companies that have already survived a century of panics, inflations, and wars. What has lasted tends to last.

Homework
We read the filings, the protocol documentation, and the history ourselves. We try to understand what we own before we own it.

Balance
A few large convictions, offset by steady businesses that hold up when we are wrong. We expect to be wrong sometimes.
